Nestled on the stunning Sunshine Coast at 30 Suncoast Beach Drive, Mount Coolum, our centre has been part of this community for almost 30 years. We know that families here cherish celebration — and we are passionate about making each one meaningful, joyful, and deeply connected to the natural environment our children love.

At its heart, Easter is a celebration of new beginnings — and nowhere is that more alive than in the natural world around us. On the Sunshine Coast in autumn, the air is softer, the garden is still lush, and nature is full of quiet invitations to slow down and notice. Hatching eggs, sprouting seeds, butterflies emerging from cocoons — the world is telling the same story Easter has told for centuries: new life follows every ending.

This is a story children understand instinctively. At Mount Coolum Early Learning, we draw on our Nature Nurture Life Skills Program and our magnificent outdoor learning environment to bring these themes to life in hands-on, sensory, and deeply memorable ways.

Our outdoor learning environment — complete with sensory garden, dry creek bed, mud kitchen, bush tucker garden, worm farm, and water park — is at its most magical during celebrations like Easter. • 🌱 Planting & New Life — Planting seeds and seedlings in our vegetable and herb gardens as a living Easter activity — nurturing new life with our own hands.
• 🍳 Easter Cooking Together — Simple Easter baking in our mud kitchen and cooking program — hot cross buns, Easter biscuits, and seasonal treats made with love.

Some of our most beautiful Easter moments happen in the garden. When a child carefully plants a seedling and waters it for the first time, they are experiencing exactly what Easter is about — the faith that something small and quiet will grow into something wonderful. Our bush tucker garden, worm farm, and vegetable patches are alive with that kind of Easter magic every single day.

Living and learning on the Sunshine Coast gives our children a truly special relationship with the natural world — and Easter here carries its own unique magic. The coast is alive in autumn: birds nesting, gardens thriving, the sea warm and generous. Our children are fortunate to experience Easter surrounded by one of the most beautiful natural environments in Australia.

We use this environment intentionally. A walk along our sensory path, digging in our large outdoor digging area, splashing in our water park — these are not just play activities during Easter week. They are invitations to notice, wonder, and connect with the living world in the same way that Easter has always invited human beings to do.

The spirit of Easter doesn’t end when the day is over. Here are some simple, nature-inspired ways to extend the celebration with your child at home on the Sunshine Coast:

• Plant something together — an Easter seedling that your child tends and watches grow is a gift that keeps giving long after the holidays.
• Go on a nature walk — look for signs of new life in your garden, local parks, or along the foreshore at Mount Coolum or Point Arkwright.
• Make a natural Easter basket — collect leaves, flowers, feathers, and pebbles to create a beautiful nature Easter display together.
