The 3-Day Guarantee

Starting January 2026, the Australian Government is replacing the Child Care Subsidy Activity Test to guarantee all eligible families at least 72 hours (3 days) of subsidised early childhood education and care per fortnight Department of Education. This means families no longer need to meet work, study, or volunteer requirements to access subsidised care Department of Education. Families caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, or those with significant participation hours, will receive 100 hours per fortnight Department of Education. This policy aims to ensure every child can access quality early learning before school, regardless of their family’s circumstances.

Free Kindy

Free kindy in Queensland is a government initiative offering eligible children 15 hours of kindergarten education per week for 40 weeks each year at no cost to families. Designed for the year before school, it helps children develop essential skills like communication, problem-solving, and social interaction.

Delivered by qualified educators in approved programs, free kindy ensures all children have access to quality early learning, regardless of their family’s financial situation. Available at long day care centres and standalone kindergarten services, the initiative promotes inclusivity, supports families, and helps children build a strong foundation for their educational journey and transition to school.
