Available for 4-year-olds who are at least 4 years of age by June 30 in the year preceding their Prep attendance, this free kindy opportunity encompasses both sessional and long day care settings.
Key Features of Free Kindy in Queensland:
- 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year
- For children aged at least 4 years by June 30 before Prep
- Attending a Government-approved Kindergarten program
- Delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher
Why is the government investing in free kindy?
- Free access to kindergarten means every child has equal access and opportunity for a strong start in the early years of learning.
Will kindy be free for all families?
- Yes. From 1 January 2024, kindy will be free for all eligible kindy-age children who attend a government-approved free kindergarten program in a sessional kindergarten or long day care service.
What is the difference between sessional kindergarten and long day care services?
- Kindergarten programs are offered in long day care services and sessional kindergarten services. Sessional kindergartens operate during school hours each school term, whereas long day care services can provide a kindergarten program as part of their extended hours of care.
Our Kindergarten Program:
We offer a Government-approved Kindergarten program – these programs are meticulously designed to align with government standards, ensuring children’s active participation in high-quality early childhood education.
The play-based learning within an Approved Kindergarten Program not only readies children for school but also cultivates life skills. An Approved Kindergarten Program is characterised by the following:
- It’s available to children in the year before they enter Prep (i.e., children who turn 4 by June 30th of the year they start).
It emphasises play-based learning.
It is administered by 2 certified Early Childhood Teachers.
It adheres to stringent national and state regulations.
