How is rest time managed at Mount Coolum Day Care Centre?2023-02-19T16:39:22+10:00

Rest is as important for growth, development and health as nutrition and physical activity. Children become very busy at day care and are consistently on the go so they need to rest. Rest does not always mean sleeping. We are aware that some children will not sleep and that’s ok. However, we do expect all children to rest on beds to allow the children who require a sleep time to do so. After 30 mins the children who do not require a sleep are able to participate in quiet activities.

Will my child have regular Educators that they know?2023-05-11T13:38:25+10:00

Yes, we have team of core Educators that are rostered on in each room for consistency. We have a pool of regular relief Educators who the children are familiar with that we use as replacement Eeducators when our core Educators are away.

How will Educators communicate with me about my child’s development and learning?2023-05-11T13:37:48+10:00

Communication is very important and we have many different methods to keep you up to date with what is happening during your child’s day. Each family will be given access to our parent communication tool, Storypark. Newsletters, emails, posters, photos, slideshows, group project books, phone calls and face to face chats are more ways we can communicate. Like us on Facebook for reminders, photos and videos of what’s happening around our centre.

What makes Mt Coolum Day Care Centre different to others in the area?2023-05-11T13:37:18+10:00

Our centre has been a part of the local community for almost 30 years. We are family owned with a team of warm, caring, long term educators. We incorporate the relaxed coastal lifestyle into our program with a focus on the natural health and well being of our children.

  • Yoga and meditation are embedded into our program.

  • All rooms are scented with essential oils.

  • A big emphasis is on building a sustainable future for our children.

  • Children are encouraged to connect with nature through gardening, using natural materials and exploring our mud pit.

  • Children are invited to help care for our living creatures such as native (stingless) bees and fish.

  • Children of all ages are viewed as capable learners; freedom of play  and risk taking is encouraged.
